Miss KG

I just wanted to share two of my favourite shoes from Miss KG at the moment.

Working with shoes all day just makes me want to buy so many of them and of the perks of the job is that I get to try them all on when they come in , only problem is I never want to take them off.

One of my favourite Miss KG shoes at the moment is called Harlequin.
Lots of customers ask me what these are like to walk in and the honest answer is that they are like walking in a wedge, they are actually really nice to wear and can imagine them not killing my feet on a night out.

I love the studs on the back of these the most and that there is an ankle strap, my feet always slip out of heels because of my high arch and it's really difficult to find shoes I love with a strap to hold my foot in.

I am also loving these boots by Miss KG called "Fuss"

You might be able to tell that I have a bit of a thing for the studded look. I think these will look great with skinny jeans or leggings and a biker jacket.

There is a strong possibility that these are going to be my go to boots for the winter.

Are there any Miss KG shoes/boots for AW12 that you're loving at the moment?

Nails

I haven't had many nails posts lately and that's because I've been getting them done professionally so they hardly ever change.

I have been having acrylic nails because mine never seem to grow and also I can't stand having chipped varnish. In one of my jobs painted nails isn't really allowed but in the other one painted, manicured nails are compulsory - this was causing me a nightmare!

I decided to have acrylics as it meant my nails were always neat and tidy for one job and well the other job couldn't tell me to take them off.

When I got back from my holiday a few weeks ago however the acrylics had caused a lot of damage to my nails as water had got trapped beneath the acrylics and had started an infection :( booo. Now don't get me wrong acrylics are awful for your nails and I was fully aware of this... I didn't realise that they could cause infections!

Therefore I am now no longer an acrylic nail lover.... my lovely nail technician Shannon has been trying to get me away from them for months and I never listened so this was the perfect opportunity for her to get me to try gellux.

Gellux is put on just like a nail varnish but is cured under a uv light so it dries instantly and does not chip, having it on my nails has also helped them grow and not break :) brilliant!

The advert for Gellux boats that it should last 15 days without chipping and dries instantly so it doesn't smudge.

Because of work I haven't been able to try out all the lovely colours on offer but in the new year I'm hoping to be able to take advantage of them.

Today was the second time of having gellux and I decided against french as it gets a bit boring and have hone for a really pale pink instead

Do you like? I can't wait to try out some more exciting colours!

Kurt Geiger

Hello :)

It feels like ages since I've done a blog post and have lots of posts coming this weekend :)

This post is dedicated to my job. At the moment I'm working at Kurt Geiger until I find the right graduate job/get into the police force.

Now ever since I got my first part time job working at Faith Shoes I have developed an unhealthy shoe obsession and my bank account does not thank me for this.

Since I've worked at Kurt Geiger this has got sooooo bad and my discount is still not activated (silly HR!! ). But we are meant to wear heels to work so my manager got me some and I am extremely excited to have bought some lovely Nine West Heels which I have to say are THE most comfortable heel I have ever worn and since I wear them for many hours running backwards and forwards to the stockroom this is saying something.

These are my gorgeous shoes from Nine West called "Drought"

I'm slowly getting used to this walking in heels thing, I've never been very good but things are improving and my shoe collection (that was already rather large) is growing and welcoming in some new members of the family!

What are your favourite Kurt Geiger shoes at the moment?

Sunday 2 September 2012

Sorry!

It feels like forever since I last did a blog post and a lot has happened... so this is going to be a very quick catch-up and hopefully the start of more products reviews and frequent blogging!

So since my last post I have GRADUATED! It was a truly amazing day and I got really spoilt by my family. the week after graduation my daddy took me to London and treated me to lunch at the Ivy which was AMAZING. I've never tasted food so good and the service was faultless... now I thought that was my graduation treat but next stop was the Mulberry store.... where I was bought a lovely mulberry handbag (the bella hobo) and an equally as lovely mulberry purse which is bright pink and the love of my life! (a separate post for these with pictures is to come :)) Needless to say I was one very happy girl!

(It's me in the middle!)

After graduation things got a bit boring and there was a lot less excitement! I've been for lots of assessments and interviews for graduate jobs and am still in the process of securing my dream job... partly because I have no idea what that is!

Now the reason I've been so busy is that I'm currently working to jobs to resemble some full time sort of job. I work for Kurt Geiger as a sales assistant, which is fab as we have to be glammed up for work and well tbh I have a bit of a thing for shoes seeing as my teenage years saw me working for Faith shoes! So that part of my job I love and my shoe collection  has already grown, but I hate some of the other aspects especially rude customers, but am learning to deal with them!

I am also a bar assistant working things like weddings at a golf and country club.... now this job I LOVE it is so much fun and I work with some amazing people who just make me laugh all night, but there are never many shifts and hours are so unpredictable so it's an as and when kind of job.

Thats about it for now I'm busy working hard and get to have a family holiday at the end of the month just after my birthday which I'm looking forward to!

Soooooo coming up.... lots of she reviews... looking forward to showcasing my NineWest flip flops and some delightful pictures of the new love of my life (My Mulbs of course!!)

Update :)

Life has been very hectic at the moment and it doesn't leave much time for hobby's :(

I've just finished university and have no idea what I want to do with my life, so at the moment I'm working two jobs for the summer while trying to figure out my life!

The plus side of that is that I now work at Kurt Geiger which has kick started my shoe addiction! The down side is that I am also working an evening job which is draining me of my energy but is also great fun as I work behind a bar with a lot of great people :)

But my evening job bans nail varnish :( so I'm finding myself painting my nails at 7am before my day job and trying to drive to work without smudging them and then frantically trying to remove it at 6pm before starting my evening job so all the fun in painting my nails is removed :(

But I indulged at the weekend and on my way to work popped into boots and had a little look at their new Essie stand... I haven't bought an Essie varnish because they are a bit on the pricey side but I decided to treat myself to one and luckily I've had a few days off this week and really love the colour I bought

Here are a few snaps- the colour I chose is Lovey Dovey which is a lovely barbie pink and is the colour I'm going to wear when celebrating my one of best friends 21st on Saturday night

Sorry for the bad picture I am still to unpack my camera even though I've been home for a month!

That picture is with 2 coats of the colour and one coat of a nails inc topcoat.

I've had this on since Sunday night and it is yet to chip as well which is brilliant as I HATE chipped nail varnish with a passion!

Next week is a big week for me and I still have lots to do... I am graduating university! There will hopefully be lots of pictures to show everyone!

Susan Bending LLB

Bit of a different post today but I am really happy and wanted to share my degree results :)

I am now the very proud to announce that I have achieved a high 2:1 in my law degree!! Was really happy with my exam results (even contain a few cheeky firsts!) and can't wait to wear my cap and gown and get my certificate!

That's all I really wanted to share, I'm just very happy to have the outcome of three years worth of hard work and stress and for it to have actually been worth it, it's an amazing feeling!

I hope everyone else waiting for their degree results get the results they want :)

MIA

So... since my last post I have been really ill, and the past 3 days are the first days where I've started to feel slightly normal again. I think it is a mixture of a bug, not looking after myself properly at uni and not sleeping much because of finals and it all took it's toll but hopefully I'm over that now and on the mend!

I owe a special dedicated post to a special friend of mine so I won't talk about her and her blog here, but if she reads this she knows she will be getting her own post soon :)

I've spent today having a little lay in as I've started my evening summer work again, and last night we had a very big wedding and took £6000 on the bar!! Now the drinks are pricey (Vodka+Lemonade is £4.50-  Vodka+ Redbull is £6.50 and a Jagerbomb is £6!!) but apparently last night was the most we have taken in years in a 5 hour period on the bar!

Anyway the point that I've started working evenings again is that all nail varnish is banned :( so I've started to give up already doing nail art as I'm having to paint my nails and remove my nail varnish almost daily (I'm painting them as I also have a different job during the day part time)

So today I've done a bit of a plain and boring nails of the day but I actually really like them, it was the colour I had put on in gel last year for my holiday so it puts me in the summer mood.

So the colour is an O.P.I one (I <3 O.P.! nail varnish and aim to own a lot more!) and is called Koala Berry- and looks like this is in the bottle:

It goes on really nice and I love that the brushes in the O.P.I polish are thick and that you can cover your nail in a swipe (this might just be me though as I have very small nail beds :()

And this is what it looks like on:

Not a very good picture (still haven't gotten round to unpacking from uni properly so not sure where my camera is )

All in all I love the colour and thankfully it can stay on for a few days before my next shift :)

NOTD: Stripes

Really not used to having so much time on my hands so i decided to paint my nails again today and making the most of being able to wear nail varnish before starting work for the summer, as I'm not allowed nail varnish in my evening job :(

So today I went for a minty green colour (Topshop "Gone Fishing") with white stripes on one nail.

Thought a summery colour was needed to brighten up the rainy day!

I've also just started using the Sally Hansen Insta-dry top coat:

This makes your nails touch dry in 30 seconds, which is great if your painting your nails in a hurry or if your just really impatient like me!

NOTD: Polka Dots!

I am really proud of these nails!

I've never been very good at doing nail art type things with my nails, tbh I'm not that good at painting them either it usually looks like a child has painted them, but I think these turned out pretty okay :)

I used a Models Own pastel pink and then one of my many french manicure whites to do these nails and I think with practice they are going to look even better in the future.

They were really easy to do. I started by applying a base coat and then I painted alternate nails pink and white. Once these had dried I used the smallest brush I had dab the polka dots on starting from the middle and working outwards.

I think they look okay and I have already decided that these will be done in pale blue next!

Has anyone got any other easy nail art ideas??

e.l.f haul

Hey, I've been buying a lot of things from the e.l.f website recently after reading some really good reviews of their products and the prices are amazing. For their basic range most of the products cost £1.50 each and their studio line is usually £3.50 each.

This may be a slightly long post as I have a fair bit to show and I'll try and give my opinions on everything as I go, hope it's helpful for people to decide on some products to try :)

First up is the eyebrow kit
This is the e.l.f eyebrow kit in light from the studio range and costs £3.50, I usually use the benefit brow kit mainly for the brow gel but this works just as well and for the price is really good

Blushers
This is again from the studio line and costs £3.50, the colour is called "twinkle pink" and is actually a really nice colour but I'm not really into such glittery blushes I usually use matte ones but I'm sure it will get used. Another thing about this blush is that it can be a bit powdery and depending on what brush I use it sometimes crumbles so I'm not sure it's going to last very long

This is another studio blush at £3.50 and I really love the colour! it's called candid coral and is the first blush I've owned that isn't pink, and it actually really suits me and has very quickly made it's way into my regular daily make-up routine.

This is not really a blush but on the website it is put with the other studio blushes at £3.50. I use this as a highlighter and it does an okay job, for £3.50 it's pretty good but I'm still an avid fan of benefit high beam

Just a little aside the packaging is amazing considering the cost of their products it kinda reminds me of the nars packaging

Closed:
Opened:
I love how you get a little mirror in all of the blushes its a really nice touch and makes the packaging feel expensive.

Face:

Bronzer:
This is from the studio line and is the bronzer in cool and costs £3.50. I haven't used this very much yet but I really like using the bottom right colour for contouring, this is in similar packaging as the blushers with a mirror included.

Translucent Matifying Powder:
This is again from the studio line and is £3.50 you get a little section of the powder and a sponge as an applicator. I bought this as I use loose powder and wanted something for my handbag that is easier to use on the go and this works perfectly.

High Definition Loose Powder:
This is from the studio line as well but is a little bit more expensive than the other items at £6 but is worth it in my opinion! I tried to take a picture of the inside but as I am having to use my webcam camera I ended up tipping powder over my keyboard.... without getting a decent picture!

This powder goes on really nice, and even though it's white it doesn't look white once applied.

Corrective concealer:
This is again from the studio line and is £3.50.
I bought this just because it caught my eye really, but I haven't really used it much. I can't remember what the yellow does but I think the blue is meant for tan lines the green for redness and the pink for the inner corner of the eyes. If this is something you need then it is pretty good but I just don't use it enough to justify buying it .
Lips:

All the lip products I bought are fairly similar colours and I haven't used all of then yet.
Matt Lip Pen:

I LOVE this! it's from the studio range and is £3.50 and is like a lipstick pen. This is in the colour natural and because it's a pen it can be used as a liner as well to give the lips really good definition, I really want to get this in tea rose as well and would recommend it.

Studio Lipstick:
This is in nicely nude and is £3.50 I haven't used this yet so can't really say much on it but it looks like a really nice colour and seems as though it is not going to be too drying on the lips

Basic Line Lipstick:
This is £1.50 and is in the colour nostalgic- I'd seem some other reviews on this colour and thought I had to have it as if you hadn't already gathered nude lipsticks are my fave" i haven't tried it out much but what I have tried I've loved and will defo be getting some other colours.

Soothing Lip Balm:
This is from their standard line and is £1.50 and is basically just a lipbalm but it smells amazing it has very little colour to it and I bought it in Strawberry Cream and it smells just like strawberry's :) the only down side to this is that once you twist it up you can't twist it back down again so if you buy one be careful! Mine has also melted very slightly :(.

Plumping Lip Gloss:
This is from their standard line and is £1.50. I actually feel as though I have wasted £1.50! lol this is in wink pink and it's okay but I don't think I am going to be using it. I usually like plumping lip glosses but this one is really not very pigmented at all and is just a bit meh

Hypershine Gloss:
This is from the standard line and is £1.50. I actually really like this I got in the colour Mauve and it's more a nude colour (which is probably why I like it) it looks really nice over lipsticks of a similar colour and for the money I think it's really good

Eyes:
Pigment Eyeshadow:
This is from the studio line and is £3.50.
Now I actually really like these but I do have an issue with the colours. I got this in Ivory so that I could use it in the inner corners of my eyes instead of pink. I thought this would be white and in the pot it looks white but as soon as you start to use it on the brush it goes a really strange pinky colour. It's not the right colour for what I intended to use it for but I can use it for other things so just beware if of the colours if your intending on ordering.

Waterproof eyeliner pen:
I think this was £1.50 but can't remember! I got this in black and it is actually pretty good but I don't think it is going to last long as it already felt really dry when I opened it but for the money I don't mind buying a few more!

Brushes:

I've ordered three brushes from e.l.f so far one from their studio line and one from their standard line and their both actually really good. I also bought the daily brush cleaner which you just spray onto your brushes after you've used them, wipe them and let them dry before you use them again. I think it's meant to sanitize them?? Here are the pictures:
Fan Brush £1.50
Foundation Brush £1.50
Stipple Brush £3.50

And that's it so far but I'm sure I will have another haul like e.l.f post soon next time I get paid and get let loose on the website!

End of Uni!

So... I set up a blog then disappear for ages! I've been submerged in finals! But have finished my degree... hopefully graduating in July with a LLB in law with honours! :)

There are also lots and lots of reviews that I want to do, I went a bit make up mad and ordered lots of new things from E.L.F and have fallen in love with their make up and make-up brushes so have a big haul like post coming up for that!

I've also had to think about make up storage as I seem to have a lot so I bought a metal beauty box type thing that I'll review as for the amount of money I paid it's actually pretty good!

I also want to do a room post... since I've been away for 3 years at university and am now moving back home (which is very very strange) my mum agreed to re-decorate my room and get me new furniture and I love it!

Yay to now being able to finally have a hobby without my degree taking over! Can't wait to get posting

Nails of the Day : Rimmel 312 Ultra Violet

So today instead of writing one of the many essays I need to write I decided to give my nails some much needed TLC.

I hate my natural nails, always have! So about a year ago I started getting acrylics nails and if I couldn't afford them I'd put on some Falsies of my own. Due to a few things, including some jobs where I won't be allowed polish or acrylics, I'm ditching the acrylics and trying to get my own nails healthy again.

So with this in mind today I started on that road to recovery for my nails :) I picked up a few nail varnishes from Boots over the weekend and had to try them out today and here are the results (please keep in mind I'm not brilliant at painting nails)

So the colour I choose is this light purple
I actually really like it, when I was first putting it on I thought it was a bit to bright. I only usually wear really dark nail colours or pink nail colours so this makes a nice change. My nails actually don't look to bad here either which I'm really pleased about, it's probably the first time in a long while that I'm actually okay with how they look.
I used two Nails inc products as well as the Rimmel nail varnish. In an effort to get my nails healthy I'm using the Kensington base coat and top coat. As you can tell from the picture I really like the top coat, mainly because it dries really quickly, I think it's meant to be 45 seconds and as I usually mess my nails up because I try and do things too quickly this top coat is amazing!

Overall I really like the colour have a feeling it will be a colour I'm going to wear a lot over the summer... hopefully on longer and much healthier nails

March "Harrods" GlossyBox

My first real post!!
Okay so this will be about the March GlossyBox, I was really looking forward to getting this box and was planning to un-subscribe from it as it was getting a little bit to much for my student budget.
At first I was a little bit disappointed when I  opened it because I had heard that others have got a mini Burberry lipstick, but I've actually grown to really like it.

The box was a lovely, shiny white this time, it's nice to get different colour boxes every now and again :) It also says on it that it is a Harrods edition box which I think is a nice touch

Inside (Sorry about the bad picture) there is black tissue paper... stuck together with a Harrods sticker all tied together with the gold and green Harrods ribbon... now this did look really nice, but due to my eagerness to open the box I kind of ruined it.  It also came with the usual cards that you get in a GlossyBox which tells you a little something about the products.

In my box I got the following products:
  • Versace- Vanitas, Eau De Parfum
  • Bliss- Blood Orange and White Pepper Body Butter
  • Revive- Intensite Creme Lustre
  • Lancome- Juicy Tube- In Toffee R'n'B
  • Clarins- Extra-Firming Body Cream

 Perfume :)
When I first saw this in the box I was a bit disappointed, I don't usually like perfume samples in boxes, usually because there the type of sample that you can pick up from your local department store... but this one is different.
I think I'm more taken by the packaging than anything else! It's in a cute little box... then inside is the cutest little glass bottle. I wouldn't mind getting more perfume samples like this, maybe just for the bottles though they could look really pretty on my dresser :)
The scent itself is actually really nice, I was expecting not to like it but I will probably use it now and again. It's probably not something that I would buy, it's a bit on the pricey side at around £45 for 30ml!

Body Butter :)
When I first saw this in the box, I felt a bit... well ... meh :/ but after smelling it I am now in love with it! It's not a scent in a body butter that I would normally pick up, but the peppery orange smell reminds me of satsumas and Christmas, but at the same time is a really fresh summary scent. At around £20.50 for 200ml I would consider buying it again, but I'm not 100% sure if I'm ready to leave behind my trust Body Shop body butters just yet

Creame :)
(Sorry for the terrible picture of this one!)
This is probably what interested me most in the box as it was a brand I was not aware of and it looked really interesting.
Now I know a lot of people get slightly annoyed when beauty boxes send out anti-ageing products but my mum always told me to start the anti-ageing process in your twenties so... I'm going to give this ago.
It's not necessarily anti-ageing- but the product is meant to be a firming moisturizer and meant to "reduce the appearance of sagging skin"
I haven't used the product much yet and not 100% sure if I'm going to carry on using it, it doesn't have much of a smell to it but it feels really thick which I don't really like.
It's also VERY expensive which makes me not want to use it so I don't get to attached! If you do get attached to it then it will set you back £235!!! yes £235!!!

Juicy Tube :)
(Again terrible picture! I will get better at this!)
This is the product I'm going to use most in the box... I'm not stranger to juicy tubes, but I usually pick redish or pinkish shades and when I first saw this shade I was a little underwhelmed. Anyway I decided to put it on and see what it was like and well... I fell in love with it!!!! Not only does it smell AMAZING but it's more like a clear glittery shade... when this runs out (as its only a mini) I will be making sure I get the full size

Clarins :)
So this was the last thing in my box, and my first Clarins product from a beauty box. I really like Clarins products and usually manage to steal them off my mum when she decides she doesn't want them anymore.
The one in the Harrods box is an Extra Firming Body Cream... whilst I'm not sure if I need the extra-firming part it can't hurt to use it can it? I haven't tried it out yet but am planning on doing so soon.. so might post an update next week after I've given it a fair go.

Overall I'm really impressed with GlossyBox this month, there are a few products I would never have brought if I saw them in a shop so it's nice to try those and some products that I can't afford to buy again but again is really nice to be able to give them a try

Introduction

Hello :)
Starting a blog is something I have wanted to try for a long time but never seem to get around to starting it up and be in a position to make sure that I keep it updated.
I have a certain passion for nail varnish... even though I have tiny nails and am utter useless at painting them.
I've also developed a keen interest since subscribing to various beauty boxes for reviewing beauty products.
Hopefully I can post some things of interest and give some useful opinions :)
xx
