Susan Bending LLB

Bit of a different post today but I am really happy and wanted to share my degree results :)

I am now the very proud to announce that I have achieved a high 2:1 in my law degree!! Was really happy with my exam results (even contain a few cheeky firsts!) and can't wait to wear my cap and gown and get my certificate!

That's all I really wanted to share, I'm just very happy to have the outcome of three years worth of hard work and stress and for it to have actually been worth it, it's an amazing feeling!

I hope everyone else waiting for their degree results get the results they want :)

MIA

So... since my last post I have been really ill, and the past 3 days are the first days where I've started to feel slightly normal again. I think it is a mixture of a bug, not looking after myself properly at uni and not sleeping much because of finals and it all took it's toll but hopefully I'm over that now and on the mend!

I owe a special dedicated post to a special friend of mine so I won't talk about her and her blog here, but if she reads this she knows she will be getting her own post soon :)

I've spent today having a little lay in as I've started my evening summer work again, and last night we had a very big wedding and took £6000 on the bar!! Now the drinks are pricey (Vodka+Lemonade is £4.50-  Vodka+ Redbull is £6.50 and a Jagerbomb is £6!!) but apparently last night was the most we have taken in years in a 5 hour period on the bar!

Anyway the point that I've started working evenings again is that all nail varnish is banned :( so I've started to give up already doing nail art as I'm having to paint my nails and remove my nail varnish almost daily (I'm painting them as I also have a different job during the day part time)

So today I've done a bit of a plain and boring nails of the day but I actually really like them, it was the colour I had put on in gel last year for my holiday so it puts me in the summer mood.

So the colour is an O.P.I one (I <3 O.P.! nail varnish and aim to own a lot more!) and is called Koala Berry- and looks like this is in the bottle:

It goes on really nice and I love that the brushes in the O.P.I polish are thick and that you can cover your nail in a swipe (this might just be me though as I have very small nail beds :()

And this is what it looks like on:

Not a very good picture (still haven't gotten round to unpacking from uni properly so not sure where my camera is )

All in all I love the colour and thankfully it can stay on for a few days before my next shift :)

NOTD: Stripes

Really not used to having so much time on my hands so i decided to paint my nails again today and making the most of being able to wear nail varnish before starting work for the summer, as I'm not allowed nail varnish in my evening job :(

So today I went for a minty green colour (Topshop "Gone Fishing") with white stripes on one nail.

Thought a summery colour was needed to brighten up the rainy day!

I've also just started using the Sally Hansen Insta-dry top coat:

This makes your nails touch dry in 30 seconds, which is great if your painting your nails in a hurry or if your just really impatient like me!

NOTD: Polka Dots!

I am really proud of these nails!

I've never been very good at doing nail art type things with my nails, tbh I'm not that good at painting them either it usually looks like a child has painted them, but I think these turned out pretty okay :)

I used a Models Own pastel pink and then one of my many french manicure whites to do these nails and I think with practice they are going to look even better in the future.

They were really easy to do. I started by applying a base coat and then I painted alternate nails pink and white. Once these had dried I used the smallest brush I had dab the polka dots on starting from the middle and working outwards.

I think they look okay and I have already decided that these will be done in pale blue next!

Has anyone got any other easy nail art ideas??

e.l.f haul

Hey, I've been buying a lot of things from the e.l.f website recently after reading some really good reviews of their products and the prices are amazing. For their basic range most of the products cost £1.50 each and their studio line is usually £3.50 each.

This may be a slightly long post as I have a fair bit to show and I'll try and give my opinions on everything as I go, hope it's helpful for people to decide on some products to try :)

First up is the eyebrow kit
This is the e.l.f eyebrow kit in light from the studio range and costs £3.50, I usually use the benefit brow kit mainly for the brow gel but this works just as well and for the price is really good

Blushers
This is again from the studio line and costs £3.50, the colour is called "twinkle pink" and is actually a really nice colour but I'm not really into such glittery blushes I usually use matte ones but I'm sure it will get used. Another thing about this blush is that it can be a bit powdery and depending on what brush I use it sometimes crumbles so I'm not sure it's going to last very long

This is another studio blush at £3.50 and I really love the colour! it's called candid coral and is the first blush I've owned that isn't pink, and it actually really suits me and has very quickly made it's way into my regular daily make-up routine.

This is not really a blush but on the website it is put with the other studio blushes at £3.50. I use this as a highlighter and it does an okay job, for £3.50 it's pretty good but I'm still an avid fan of benefit high beam

Just a little aside the packaging is amazing considering the cost of their products it kinda reminds me of the nars packaging

Closed:
Opened:
I love how you get a little mirror in all of the blushes its a really nice touch and makes the packaging feel expensive.

Face:

Bronzer:
This is from the studio line and is the bronzer in cool and costs £3.50. I haven't used this very much yet but I really like using the bottom right colour for contouring, this is in similar packaging as the blushers with a mirror included.

Translucent Matifying Powder:
This is again from the studio line and is £3.50 you get a little section of the powder and a sponge as an applicator. I bought this as I use loose powder and wanted something for my handbag that is easier to use on the go and this works perfectly.

High Definition Loose Powder:
This is from the studio line as well but is a little bit more expensive than the other items at £6 but is worth it in my opinion! I tried to take a picture of the inside but as I am having to use my webcam camera I ended up tipping powder over my keyboard.... without getting a decent picture!

This powder goes on really nice, and even though it's white it doesn't look white once applied.

Corrective concealer:
This is again from the studio line and is £3.50.
I bought this just because it caught my eye really, but I haven't really used it much. I can't remember what the yellow does but I think the blue is meant for tan lines the green for redness and the pink for the inner corner of the eyes. If this is something you need then it is pretty good but I just don't use it enough to justify buying it .
Lips:

All the lip products I bought are fairly similar colours and I haven't used all of then yet.
Matt Lip Pen:

I LOVE this! it's from the studio range and is £3.50 and is like a lipstick pen. This is in the colour natural and because it's a pen it can be used as a liner as well to give the lips really good definition, I really want to get this in tea rose as well and would recommend it.

Studio Lipstick:
This is in nicely nude and is £3.50 I haven't used this yet so can't really say much on it but it looks like a really nice colour and seems as though it is not going to be too drying on the lips

Basic Line Lipstick:
This is £1.50 and is in the colour nostalgic- I'd seem some other reviews on this colour and thought I had to have it as if you hadn't already gathered nude lipsticks are my fave" i haven't tried it out much but what I have tried I've loved and will defo be getting some other colours.

Soothing Lip Balm:
This is from their standard line and is £1.50 and is basically just a lipbalm but it smells amazing it has very little colour to it and I bought it in Strawberry Cream and it smells just like strawberry's :) the only down side to this is that once you twist it up you can't twist it back down again so if you buy one be careful! Mine has also melted very slightly :(.

Plumping Lip Gloss:
This is from their standard line and is £1.50. I actually feel as though I have wasted £1.50! lol this is in wink pink and it's okay but I don't think I am going to be using it. I usually like plumping lip glosses but this one is really not very pigmented at all and is just a bit meh

Hypershine Gloss:
This is from the standard line and is £1.50. I actually really like this I got in the colour Mauve and it's more a nude colour (which is probably why I like it) it looks really nice over lipsticks of a similar colour and for the money I think it's really good

Eyes:
Pigment Eyeshadow:
This is from the studio line and is £3.50.
Now I actually really like these but I do have an issue with the colours. I got this in Ivory so that I could use it in the inner corners of my eyes instead of pink. I thought this would be white and in the pot it looks white but as soon as you start to use it on the brush it goes a really strange pinky colour. It's not the right colour for what I intended to use it for but I can use it for other things so just beware if of the colours if your intending on ordering.

Waterproof eyeliner pen:
I think this was £1.50 but can't remember! I got this in black and it is actually pretty good but I don't think it is going to last long as it already felt really dry when I opened it but for the money I don't mind buying a few more!

Brushes:

I've ordered three brushes from e.l.f so far one from their studio line and one from their standard line and their both actually really good. I also bought the daily brush cleaner which you just spray onto your brushes after you've used them, wipe them and let them dry before you use them again. I think it's meant to sanitize them?? Here are the pictures:
Fan Brush £1.50
Foundation Brush £1.50
Stipple Brush £3.50

And that's it so far but I'm sure I will have another haul like e.l.f post soon next time I get paid and get let loose on the website!

xoxo
